28th March Manly Beach

Today we were off to Manly (Grr), a small coastal town near Sydney Harbour. To be honest I was more drawn to the place by its name than anything else. I liked the fact that we were getting on a 'manly' ferry and that we had a smoothie from the 'Manly' bakery. I think there should be a twin beach called 'Womanly'...it would be ace and you know it.
We met Holly's friend Mabel from Huddersfield and spent the day chilling on the beach listening to music (including the theme tune to that crazy 90s TV show 'Round The Twist' - I know we are very very cool). Holly went to stay with Mabel for a couple of nights and me and Claire went to watch Ross & Scott (her cousins) play footie and soccer (so thats rugby & football to you and me). I don't really get why rugby is called football because it is not football at all. The ball is in your hands for the majority of the time so if anything it should be called handball or grippyball or chuckyball. Why soccer? i mean we invented it so it should be called what ever we called it in the first place. I've just realised I'm ranting about such a pointless subject..ah well...its true though!
Her cousins were very very good. Little Ross finished practice and I felt like a proud mum. He kicked the ball to one of his mates so he could go and get a drink and I just couldn't help myself. I let out a massive 'WOOHOO!!' and instantly felt ashamed at myself that I'd embarassed Ross, Claire & mostly myself. So we went home.
